Netflix have shared a promotional teaser for a new animated Stranger Things show titled “Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85” which will release in 2026.
The new show’s announcement comes on ‘Stranger Things Day’ which is November 6th – the day Will Byers went missing in Season One of Stranger Things.
The show seemingly follows the usual Stranger Things characters with a new story taking place in 1985.
The story of this new animated show takes place between Season 2 and Season 3 of the original show.
In the promotional teaser, the Duffer brothers (the creators of Stranger Things) describe the new show’s animation having the aim to “evoke the feeling of an ‘80s cartoon”.
They describe animation as providing the story “really no limits” and say that the animation team have been able to go “wild” with the animation.
The prospect of getting to see new stories with the characters of Stranger Things is sure to be much to the excitement of just about any Stranger Things fans.
Netflix choosing to have this “spin-off show” ready for such a quick release – by Stranger Things standards – after the series finale which is set to release on December 31 is likely to prove as an excellent strategy to deter any Stranger Things fans from ending their subscription.
Netflix’s Tudum blog has revealed the new voice cast for the show, with the original Stranger Things cast not set to reprise their characters in their animated form.
