The Severance season 2 finale is just hours away and there are a number of mysteries which are currently unresolved… will some of them be answered in the season 2 finale?

These are the main questions which are still to be answered.

1. The Big One: What is the Macrodata Refinement team really working on?

For 2 seasons now we have seen the MDR team play around with numbers for reasons which are still currently unknown to us. Some fans suspect that they may be refining the 4 tempers laid out by Kier but this currently remains unconfirmed.

2. What’s up with the goats?

The absurdity/randomness of the goats is one of the quirks of the show and the reason for their presence is currently unknown. The mystery of the goats seems to be getting to many Severance fans with a popular Severance fan theory at the moment being that Ricken (Devon’s husband) is in fact a goat. 🐐

3. What is Cold Harbour?

Cold Harbour seems to be Lumon’s ultimate goal they are looking for Mark to achieve. We still don’t know what cold harbour is although we do know that it is related to Gemma.

4. Who was Irving talking to on the phone at the start of season 2?

We saw outie Irving talking to somebody on the phone near the beginning of season 2 and the mystery shrouding this means that a twist may be on its way to answer this question.

5. What is the purpose of the additional team watching the MDR team?

During the Gemma-centric episode we see that a second team of doppelgängers are watching the MDR team. The purpose of this team is still unknown – is it simply surveillance or is there more to them?

6. How did Gemma get captured or did she agree to work with Lumon / why was she selected by Lumon?

Gemma’s flashback episode reveals that her entrapment at Lumon may not have been by accident with her Lumon dentist/Christmas companion appearing to be surveilling her and Mark at the fertility clinic prior to her ‘crash’ which begs the questions – why Gemma and how did they stage (or take advantage of) her car crash?

7. Is Burt for or against Lumon?

Burt might just be the most morally ambiguous character in this show with his true intentions seeming to be rather convoluted. Why did he lie about how long he was working for Lumon?

8. Why is Mark so important to Lumon and Cold Harbour?

We see at the start of season 2 that Mark is seemingly the only essential member of the MDR team with the rest being interchangeable but why is this? Is his affection for Gemma key to this mystery?

9. Who is Jame Eagan talking to or think he’s talking to at the end of Season 2 Episode 9?

This is something that has really been up for debate amongst fans as the character’s resentful ‘you tricked me’ delivered to Helly R/Helena has fans conflicted about which he may think he is talking to or is actually talking to.
