Enough time has passed since the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love, and we have all had time to truly develop our ranking of all the songs on the album.

The album stays true to form for an Olivia Rodrigo album with a mix of slow ballads a long with a few pop rock songs, but with an arguably more mature approach (when suited) in it’s writing.

My ranking is based purely on my own enjoyment of each song although I do typically find that this does align with the quality of both lyrics and production on a song. Be sure to let me know in the comments how your ranking differs! 🙂

”You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love” Album Cover

13. Cigarette Smoke

I find this song to be lyrically great but sonically a bit too slow and dull for me.

12. Purple

Although this song has a really catchy chorus, I haven’t found myself listening to it a lot.

11. Expectations

This song is great sonically with lyrics that fit the vibe of the song however, it sits lower on my ranking as it is not a song I particularly relate to.

10. My Way

I have seen this song take a bit of heat online but I find it to be really catchy and fun in a way which adds a good balance to the album.

9. Begged

This is where my ranking actually gets a lot more difficult as I love my top 9 songs of this album which is a very rare feat for any album by my standards and is something I can only say about a handful of albums (mostly by Taylor Swift).

8. Less

Less is a truly perfectly written song with a unique sentiment which is why I can see it remaining a timeless song for years to come.

The line “crying on the curb at LAX” really scratches an itch in my brain. 😌

7. U + me = <3

I really love the final bridge in this song and the little references to things such as Cadbury chocolate.

This is a really sweet and truly upbeat song which is a welcome addition to the album.

6. Drop Dead

This song really grew on me as I didn’t initially love it.

Although it is lyrically a bit vapid, the song is really catchy and is a fun radio-worthy track which definitely makes sense as a single for the album in hindsight.

5. Honeybee

Honeybee was an instant hit for me upon first listen as I really love the tranquil production and sweet sentiment.

This song has been made into a bit of a meme online, but that is really only due to some of the lyrics being taken out of the context of the song. 👶🐝

4. Maggots For Brains

Maggots For Brains is a truly perfect pop album track which would make for a great single but is the kind of high quality song which is really refreshing to find as an album track.

The song has a great angle for a ‘love song’ and is so catchy I had to cop the Fortnite emote so that I can listen to the chorus whenever I play. 🕺

3. The Cure

The bridge of this song is the highlight of the album and is a ballad which feels worthy of the ‘Drivers License’ level of success.

I do specifically love the non-explicit version of this song as I think the line change works a lot better.

2. Stupid Song

This song is pop perfection and is the type of song that belongs on the radio as it is likely to be to most people’s liking.

The success of this song is no surprise as everything from the production to the imagery in the lyrics is pop music at its best.

1. What’s Wrong With Me

‘What’s Wrong With Me’ is without a doubt my favourite song on the album.

Each verse is really strong and the song sonically sounds like it could truly be a classic from the 80s.

Robert Smith (from ‘The Cure’) on this song marks Olivia Rodrigo’s first feature on an album, and is a feature that really brought this song to another level as the combination of their vocals proves to be a match made in heaven for this song.

That wraps up my ranking! Let me know how your ranking differs in the comments below.
